Primeira Gaúcha

Esta é minha mais recente produção e a última do ano, uma faca gaúcha de 10" (25cm) de lâmina. Essa faca eu forjei a partir de uma barra de aço desconhecido que estava na minha oficina. Em uma ocasião eu estava cortando essa barra e reparei nas fagulhas que pareciam estrelas, o que é característico de aços com maior teor de carbono, e decidi usar pra fazer uma faca. Por se tratar de uma barra redonda, resolvi forjar uma integral longa e daí surgiu a ideia de fazer uma gaúcha. Felizmente, depois de temperado o aço endureceu (pelo menos ao teste da lima). This is my new creation and the last of this year, a gaucha with 10" length blade. This knife I forged from a unknown steel bar that I found in my workshop. In a occasion I was cutting the bar and I noticed the star shape of the sparks, which is a signal that the steel has a high carbon content, then I decided to forge a knife from it. since it was a rounder bar, I decided to make a long integral knife which I further realized that could be a gaucha. Fortunately, after the quenching the steel got hard (at least to the file test).

Esta foi minha premira tentativa fazendo a "bombinha" e por isso está longe de estar perfeita. Fiz o pomo de aço inox e tentei deixar o perfil o mais baixo possível. No caso da porca para o pomo, não consegui deixa-la mias baixa por causa d extensão da rosca. The pommel was made from stainless steel and I tried to make it with a very low profile. On the other hand, the pommel nut came out longer than I desired because I make a screw in it. Fiz uma bainha simples de couro de búfalo tingida. I made a simple sheath of buffalo hide dyed.
